“Worried about your shoes more than your soul, you sold out” sings Jessie Reyez in her brand new single “SUGAR AT NIGHT” from the Target exclusive version of her album BEFORE LOVE CAME TO KILL US ALL.
This song takes an interpersonal twist by calling out an ex-lover that refuses to mature both in the relationship and in personal life. If you’ve been a fan of the Colombian-Canadian singer for a while, you’re probably aware of her history of writing about toxic relationships. This time is no different.
On October 2, Reyez blessed the Youtube homepage with the video for the single. With brilliant lyrical wordplay and the “faceless” man that appears in the video, it’s easy to put a face (get it… because the man in the video doesn’t have a face) to our own “sugar at night.”
